Inspirational Influencing
We think EAST DORSET & NEW FOREST Branch deserves this award because:
Dr Charles Hillier is our President- he is also one of three Neurologists who serve our branch area.
He was, we believe, the first Neurologist in the country to organise a one-day conference on “Long Term Medical Conditions” which featured Motor Neurone Disease. The branch which was well represented, provided all the necessary literature for the event. He is now, with our help, organising a Special Interest Group. The branch secretary is on the committee for this Group.
At the inaugural meeting in June 70 Health & Social Care professionals were present. There was again very real interest and the Committee and Avs were on hand with literature.
There are two Committee Meetings planned before the next SIG Meeting - the subject for this meeting will be “Making the Diagnosis” and Dr Hillier will lead it.
Dr Hillier is keen to involve us as the Care Manager for each person diagnosed with MND and this will be a marvellous way in which the Association can influence the care received by those living with MND.
