Dawn’s Daredevil Team flying the world's fastest ZipWire for Voice Banking

Dawn Goodson has been at it again!

On Thursday 13 June Dawn flew the world’s fastest Zip Wire in North Wales in aid of the East Dorset and New Forest MNDA Voice Banking project. But, she didn’t fly alone! She ‘roped in’ a few fellow dare devils to join her on Velocity 2, the 100 mph, mile long zip line soaring over Penrhyn Quarry in Snowdonia. Joining Dawn was her friend Brian who lost his brother to MND, Neil Allen whose wife Annie has MND, their son Samuel (15), Annie’s friend Gina Mills and her son Alex (15).

Zip Group

‘The Welsh weather gave us its worst’ said Annie. ‘However, the heavy rain did not stop play and the team excitedly headed up the mountain by truck. I was nervous enough just watching, but the advantage of a heavy mountain mist meant I could not see them launch themselves from the top and they could not see how high they were’!

The daredevils returned rosy cheeked from the rain pounding their faces at speed, thoroughly exhilarated and each wanting to fly again, especially the fearless Dawn. What will she get up to next ?

The team funded the zip wire challenge themselves. If you would like to help, the team have set up a just giving please where you can pledge your donation (every little helps): www.justgiving.com/fundraising/daredevildawnheadingfor90yearsat100mph4mnda

Caterpillar Employees

Caterpillar employees tackle 5k Bournemouth Run & raise £933.67 for the branch

On Saturday 1st June, under the blue skies and sunshine of Bournemouth, 23 employees from Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd in Wimborne, along with partners and friends took on Bournemouth’s inflatable 5k run. Known from here on as the Inflatapillars.

Along the 5k run there were 15 inflatable obstacles to tackle, this was no mean feat and all to raise money for MND.

“MND is our chosen charity for the next two years,” comments Jude Castell customer services representative and charity co-ordinator at Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd. “Motor Neurone Disease took the life of a colleagues father so we understand first hand what this rapidly progressing terrible disease is capable of and the effect it has on family and friends. Knowing that we were raising money for such a wonderful cause kept the Inflatapillars pushing right to the finish line.”

Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is organising and taking part in several events over the next two years, to raise money for MND East Dorset and New Forest.

So far they have raised £933.67 so to make it up to the round £1000 go to: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/inflatapillars

Crane Valley Golf Club Donation - February

The Senior Mens' section of Crane Valley Golf Club, Verwood, Dorset, have very generously donated a cheque for £1477.10 to the branch.

One of their popular golfing pals is living with MND and, because of this, are all very aware of the devastating effect of the disease on him and his family.
