Boat Trip

A TRIP ON THE BRINY

Once again the Merry Band (much depleted) set off on their travels…

Today it was the Great Orange Dolphin – a purpose built boat, designed to take wheelchair users out on the spectacular Poole Harbour.

We gathered at Poole Quay and then boarded, aided by the very helpful volunteers who run this worthy project. Once we cast off we were treated to tea, coffee and biscuits.

The blustery (although dry) weather did not deter us from enjoying the beauty of the surrounding countryside – particularly Arne – and the views of the Purbecks, as always – stunning.

Captain Audrey had again excelled herself – providing a delicious lunch, with choice of sandwiches, fruit yoghurt and home made sponge cake – much to the delight of us all and including the volunteer seamen, all of whom were only too willing to tell us their stories – and share recipes!

All too soon it was time to dock and disembark and vanish into the rush of the Quay visitors – having had a great time, enjoyed the trip, but mostly the company, must do this again and hopefully share it with those who for varying reasons , were unable to be with us – next time!!??
