She did my face and neck having first shaved me with my new machine and cleaned my teeth. Next it was my upper half and lower half and it was then that other things started to happen. Talking away, interspersed by my , “mmmm’s” and , “m-mmmmz,” she was actually kneeling and doing my feet, one at a time in a bowl, when the head of another nurse poked around the corner of the curtain.
“ Don’t forget to cream his elbows and his heels Jenny.”
“ Okay okay,” was the response from the former nurse who would have been barely visible to the latter.
As the latter nurse departed, I could just see a clip board in her hand, which she ticked, and took with her as she continued on with the rest of her tour.
Now I had never before been creamed in this way. I did not know why it was necessary and I was mentally separated from the current practical events in which I was involved, by trying to picture in my mind the events leading up to my creaming. In other words, my level of concentration had completely gone by the wayside.
Coming back to the real world mentally, I looked away. I could just see the clear sky through the window, and when looking at the little mobile table at the end of my bed, I noticed, just to the side of all the other materials necessary for my care, a small, orange striped box designed to house a tube. Jenny was actually creaming the heel of my left foot. It did smell nice. It suddenly occurred to me that the reason the box was empty was because Jenny was using the cream housed in it to do the necessary creaming on my heel. But it was my cream. My doc had given it to me to put on my tongue to control Thrush. Even though I could not speak, the range of sound I emmitted via my own language of , “mmm,” and, “m-mmmmz,” caused Jenny to be standing bolt upright wide eyed and open mouthed in a matter of mille seconds.
Soon I was dressed and setting off on my wheelie toward the lounge after a very interesting start to the day, and one that had decided, that never again, would I ever suffer from Athlete’s Foot.
