www.mndassociation.org/PMA-PLS   This link is to a new section of the main website for people living with rarer forms of MND, PMA (Progressive Muscular Atrophy) and PLS (Primary Lateral Sclerosis).

The following links are to websites outside of the MND Associations National Website and the Association or the Brach do not hold themselve responsible for the content of these websites.

http://www.nbc5i.com/health/2439651/detail.html  This link is of interest as it gives details of research in America regarding ALS.

http://www.ricability.org.uk    This link may be useful because although it doesn’t relate specifically to MND it does contain a lot of useful information.

http://www.disabilityworld.com  This link goes to a website that contains a lot of useful information about disabilities, accommodation, holidays abroad etc.  There are a number of links to sites that are for MND.

http://www.youreable.com  This link will take you to website similar to ‘disabilityworld.com’ but it may contain more information.  You can also register with the website and get access to forums and discussions which you may find helpful.

http://www.etriloquist.com & http://www.readplease.com  .   These links will take you to websites where you can download free speech engines to use on your computer.  You choose voices and also write text and then play back.  You can also copy from other applications selected text and then paste into these speech engines and playback.

www.mobilityabroad.com      This link will take you to a website that is for a company that has available for hire a wide range of disability equipment from electric scooters to patient hoists on the Costa del Sol and Majorca.  Handy for that holiday in the sun where you just want to have less problems.

www.ddmc.org.uk      This link will take you a website which is associated with disabled motorists.

http://www.sunrisemedical.com     This link will take you a website for a company that supplies all forms of aids for the disabled from wheelchairs and scooters to lifting hoists.

The forum can be used to contact others with a similar interest in MND - to decide what information and services should be provided, to tell people what you want and to share what you know. We have recently added a voting page and a chat room to communicate with others and let your views be known.

‘Your Level Best’ is a website that provides details of Pubs, restaurants etc that are wheelchair friendly.  It also provides a list of useful links, some of which may already be on this web page.  To access the website click on the following image   Your Level Best Logo

www.getaboutmobility.co.uk This website is useful for getting information about attractions that are accessible within our area and the west country.  It also has links to other websites which, if you chose to use those links, we do not hold ourselves responsible for.

www.travelbility.co.uk  This website provides travel insurance for people with pre-existing medical conditions.  It includes Motor Neurone Disease in its list of conditions covered.  There is an online medical screening which actually asks which variant of MND you have.  That in itself is very unusual as with other companies like 'it's so Easy' you have to ring a company like Mediquote for screening.  The premium I got when checking it out was slightly dearer than 'It's so Easy' but only a few pounds more so nothing extortionate.  I haven't checked the full policy yet but the excess seemed reasonable as far as I could tell. It's a company worth checking with as I think to travel abroad uninsured is asking for trouble.  The telephone number is 02086767450, not even an  0870  number!
